Appro intros Opteron-based HPC server

Description: Appro International Inc provided details on its new 4U Appro 4145H server based on quad AMD Opteron processors. The server will be available next month. The Appro 4145H targets graphic-intensive high-performance applications. Using four Opteron processors, the server offers high-performance capabilities, expandable storage, PCI-X and AGP 8X slots support providing performance and capability for high-end graphic simulations. Other features include: Simultaneous 32-bit and 64-bit computing capability from the Opteron processors, HyperTransport technology, up to 64GB of DDR memory in 16 DIMM Slots, PCI-X and 8x AGP slot support for advanced graphics cards, 4 hot-swappable HDDs -- IDE or SCSI hard disks, a 5.25-inch drive bay for tape devices, remote server management capabilities, choice of Windows or Linux operating systems.
