If you left your heart in San Francisco, come and retrieve it this week at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. Any excuse for visiting my hometown and favorite city is a good one, but a gathering of Linux fanatics makes a great one. If you're not sure there will be enough to keep you occupied at the show, then you've had your head in the proverbial sand. Check out our LinuxWorld preview stories for the scoop on such hot Expo topics as

Among the LinuxWorld Conference speakers are our resident Ask the Expert advisors Julie Hanna Farris and Sam Greenblatt. On Aug. 3, Sam will join other Linux visionaries on the panel "The Future of Free/Libre and Open Source Software." On Aug. 5, Farris and other leading messaging experts will discuss a hot topic, "Alternatives to Microsoft Exchange...on Linux."
In case you can't make it to the City by the Bay, or you get distracted by the city's sights and miss parts of LinuxWorld, we'll be covering the show in depth. So, keep your eye on our LinuxWorld Report, where we'll collect all the stories we publish about the event and post the latest news about product introductions.
It's easy to get distracted by San Francisco's charms. While visiting, see if you can find my favorite spots:
- Greens at Fort Mason
- Crissy Field marsh
- The Castro Theatre
- Citizen Cake
- The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art right beside Moscone Center
- HyperBowl at the Metreon
- and the fantastic new Ferry Building Marketplace.
Drop me a line about your favorite experience in San Francisco during LinuxWorld and at the show itself. The first person to do so will get a copy of "Linux Programming by Example" by Arnold Robbins, published by Prentice Hall PTR. Write to me at editor@searchenterpriselinux.com.
SearchEnterpriseLinux.com will be exhibiting at LinuxWorld in San Francisco in Booth #589
