QUESTION POSED ON: 23 July 2003
Beyond the fact that RedHat will no longer support previous versions after December 31, 2003, what's the motivation for moving to RedHat ES or RedHat AS?

The motivation for moving from the consumer version to Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES and Red Hat Linux AS is that the enterprise versions provide the core operating system and networking infrastructure for a wide range of entry-level and server applications. ES is ideally suited for network, file, print, mail, Web and custom or packaged business applications. Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES is fully compatible across the Red Hat Enterprise Linux family. The AS Family gives you two unique features: Cluster Manager is a high availability clustering feature, while the IP Load Balancing(Piranha) feature provides high performance and high availability for network infrastructures. If you are an Enterprise you need this functionality.
