To enable the use of POSIX ACLs with Samba a few basic provisions must be
made:
1. The underlying file system needs to have ACLs enabled. This means that there needs to be kernel level ACLs support.
2. The file system needs to be formatted with a suitable file system (EXT2/3, ReiserFS, XFS, JFS).
3. Samba must be compiled with ACLs support enabled SuSE 8.1, UnitedLinux 1.0, and Mandrake Linux ship with ACLs support in the OEM original kernel as well as in the versions of Samba that they provide.
