Light is an easy-to-use, lightweight, open source portal development framework. The framework is based on Java and Ajax and can be plugged into any Java-based Web application. Light can also be used as an independent portal application.
Light supports multiple layouts, portal personalization and security, internationalization and custom as well as conventional window styles and drop-down menus. A portal based on Light can be used to create specialized applications and databases for Web sites that can be served from within a single portal and tailored to meet the specific needs of individual users. A Light portal can be enabled and disabled at will by the user for access to a personalized portal or a more standard business interface.
Jianmin Liu, a Web Application developer based in Winnipeg, Canada, is the founder and core developer of the Light Portal project. Project leaders select developers from within the community on an invitation-only basis.
