I currently am using Windows XP and want to keep it, but at the same time I would like Linux as a second operating system. How to I go about installing Linux with out losing XP? I would like to keep XP as the primary boot.

You can set up Linux as another operating system on the same machine that can be chosen at boot time. This is called "dual booting," and if you search around on the Internet, you'll find lots of information about how to implement this.
