Switching to Linux to reduce costs

Windows licensing costs are getting too high for my company, and my IT group has been asked to evaluate Linux. What are some ways that we can get up to date on Linux technology quickly? Are there low-cost training courses? Also, how could moving to Linux reduce our administration costs and increase productivity?

There are many Web sites such as SearchEnterpriseLinux.com and conferences such as the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo and the Enterprise Linux Forum that are very helpful. For additional information on Linux courses in your area you should contact your local Linux User Groups. The only way to determine administrative costs and productivity is to benchmark your costs against a Linux deployment model. You will see that the cost of acquisition goes down, not the cost of administration.
