Network monitoring and server management with Nagios

My company is looking for an open source, server managment platform that can perform a variety of functions. We are especially interested in the ability to track specific events, observe hardware utilization, look at input/output and monitor page swapping on our Apache server. If possible, we would also like to be able to manage and specifically to parse our MySQL databases from the same platform. Do you have any recommendations as to an all-inclusive, open source solution that would meet our needs?

When you register, my team of editors will also send you resources covering Linux administration and management; integration and interoperability between Linux, Windows and Unix; securing Linux and mixed-platform environments; and migrating to Linux.

The best-known open source server management platform is Nagios. It has a very broad range of functionality and the ability to be extended for your environment through plugins.
