MySQL error: Client does not support authentication...

I was installing php4.3.4.11 from FC2 CDs. I also installed MySQL 4.1.11. Now I have a problem; when connecting to MySQL via php I recieve this error:

client does not support authentication...."

In my phpinfo(); the version of mysql cilent was set 3.23.58, but when I want to upgrade it with the new one, "this package is already installed" was indicated. At first FC2 installed MySQL 3.23 for me, then I upgraded it.

Your copy of PHP was built using an older version of the MySQL client libraries that do not support the new password hashing algorithms used in MySQL version 4.1 and higher.
