Converting MS Word documents with formatting to Sun StarOffice

We have trouble converting MS Word documents with bullets and numbered heading to Sun StarOffice. Do you have any advice?

Numbers and bullets are one of the top issues that emerge, if you have conversion problems. I would suggest two things:
  • If you haven't already, select an existing set of numbering and bullet styles or create new styles, in StarOffice (or OpenOffice.org). You can more easily apply the right formatting this way.

  • Do the same thing on the Word side.
If formatting is still troublesome in spots, select the text and choose Format > Default. Then reapply the style.

You can also use the icons in the bullet/numbered list object bar. Click in a numbered list and the icons on the object bar will change to list-specific tools.
