Can I replicate an AD server to a Linux Samba server?

While third-party operating systems cannot directly participate as DCs in an Active Directory domain, you have several options to allow for interoperability including:
  • Realm trusts between Unix Kerberos realms and AD domains
  • Windows Services for Unix, currently available as a free download with improvements being made in R2.
  • Directory Synchronization and provisioning solutions such as Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS).
