Is there a way to analyze indexes on MySQL?

The indexes themselves cannot be analyzed, but we can use the EXPLAIN functionality to analyze a the INDEX usage of a query. The EXPLAIN syntax is detailed at http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/EXPLAIN.html.
